Commencement Information
To participate in Commencement, students must be eligible to graduate in June. The ONLY exception will be for students who are 8 units (two courses) away from completing their degree. Those students will be REQUIRED to: File a yellow student petition with their academic advisor accompanied by PROOF of enrollment in summer courses that will complete the degree.
 
MARCH 15: Deadline to file an Application for Graduation.
* This online grad-app can be found on the CHASS Student Affairs website.
* You must be enrolled in your SPRING 06 courses before you file your application.
 
APRIL 28: Deadline to file yellow Petition to Participate in Commencement AND Application for Summer Graduation.
* This online grad-app can be found on the CHASS Student Affairs website.
* Petitions are availabe outside the Office of Interdisciplinary Programs.
* Petitions MUST be accompanied by PROOF of summer enrollment in courses that will COMPLETE degree requirements (8 unit max.)
* If you submit a petition after April 28 your name will not appear in the Commencement Program.
 
JUNE 30: Deadline to file an Application for Summer Graduation (for students not participating in Commencement).

SUNDAY, JUNE 18, 2006 - 8:00am - Commencement Ceremony for Liberal Studies Majors
* Register your intent to participate in Commencement at www.commencement.ucr.edu
 
CONGRATULATIONS to all our graduates!

More Graduation Information
Diplomas will be available approximately four (4) month after graduation. A postcard will be mailed to the permanent address you have on file when they become available for pick-up. You can arrange with the Registrar's Office to have your diploma mailed to you.
 
If you need graduation verification prior to your degree posting, you may request a letter of Certification from the CHASS Student Affairs Office.
 
JULY 14: Deadline to submit transcripts showing transfer work for Spring 2006. Students who do not meet this deadline will be required to file another application for graduation for the following quarter.
 
Graduating with HONORS
To be eligible for Honor at Commencement you must meet the following cutoffs:
* Highest Honors: 3.895
* High Honors: 3.750
* Honors: 3.519
You must have earned 60 or more units of letter grades from UC.
Honors issued at Commencement for Spring and Summer 2006 degree candidates are not official. The official determination (for transcript and diploma purposes) will be determined based on the final calculated grade point averages of the actual Spring graduates.

Check your UCR Webmail account regularly.

Don't risk missing important information from the University.
All communication from the University is through your UCR Webmail account.
We no longer contact you via letter or personal email address.


Concurrent Enrollment for Spring
UCR credit for any course taken at another college institution while enrolled at UCR is normally awarded only under unusual circumstances, and ONLY WITH THE PRIOR APPROVAL of the Associate Dean of Student Affairs.

If you wish to receive credit for coursework taken concurrently at another institution you must file the Petition for Concurrent Enrollment BEFORE classes begin.

Summer @ Community College
Don't risk repeating a course elsewhere. Check the articulation agreement between the Community College and UCR online at ASSIST (www.assist.org)
You can transfer a total of 105 quarter units from a community college. No petition is required for taking summer courses. Send an OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT to Undergraduate Admissions when the course is completed.

Planning to Be an Elementary School Teacher?

UCR’s Blended Program in Undergraduate Teacher Preparation offers an accelerated path to UCR’s Credential Program. The goal is to be able to begin your student teaching in the final quarter of your senior year. With careful course planning and a GPA of 3.0 or higher (Jr/Sr) you may be eligible to participate. Completion of EDUC001 (Imagining Teaching) and EDUC002 (Looking in Classrooms) are required. For more information please contact a Liberal Studies advisor.

 
THE CALIFORNIA BASIC EDUCATIONAL SKILLS TEST (CBEST) should be taken BEFORE you reach junior standing. Register on their website: www.cbest.nesinc.com
 
THE CALIFORNIA SUBJECTS EXAMINATION FOR TEACHERS (CSET) must be passed BEFORE you can enter a credential program. Visit the exam website to register or to take a full length practice exam www.ceset.nesinc.com

CREDENTIAL INFORMATION SEMINARS at UCR's Graduate School of Education are very informative. Upcoming dates are:
