Your Academic Success
Whose Responsibility is it, anyway?
YOU:
READ the information presented to you.
KEEP the information and refer to it regularly.
KNOW who your advisor is, and how to contact him/her.
ASK informed questions of your advisor (questions that indicate that you have read the information).
BE PREPARED with a proposed course schedule when meeting with your advisor. Don’t come to the appointment and ask, “What should I take?” Review your degree audit on PAWS and plan a schedule before meeting.
STAY INFORMED of policies, procedures, and deadlines by referring to the General Catalog and the Online Schedule of Classes. “Nobody told me” is not a valid excuse for being unaware of deadlines.
REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE THE ONE EARNING THE DEGREE. Your success depends on how well YOU assume the responsibility for making it happen.
ADVISOR:
PROVIDE accurate information about your major/program.
ANSWER your informed questions.
KEEP your records accurate sot hat you can review your progress on PAWS
GIVE accurate referrals (not run you around).
¨
ASSIST you in meeting your goals, but not to do it for you.
